Senior to Associate Town Planner

Dublin based – One to two days per week hybrid possible post probation.

The vast majority of the company’s sites and clients are in the Greater Dublin area so easy access of Dublin is a prerequisite.

Our client provides planning and development consultancy services to a wide range of developers and work both with an in-house architectural team and with several other architectural practices.  They provide a wide range of planning consultancy and development services to clients, specializing in the preparation, coordination and lodgment of planning applications, and providing planning advice from inception right through to compliance stage on-site.  They have extensive experience working as part of and leading design teams for multi-disciplinary, design projects.

Role:

Due to a sustained increase in demand for the company’s services our client wish to hire a Senior Town Planner up to Associate Director level.  They offer a friendly working environment, competitive packages, can accommodate a range of flexible working arrangements and work across a wide range of project types.

This is a small team, and the role is very much client facing and you will be working with clients in a collaborative environment. Our client has a reputation for delivering the best possible outcomes for their clients which has resulted in consistent high levels of repeat business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support senior staff on a range of projects, using initiative in doing so.
  • Collate, analyse and interpret a range of socio-economic, demographic, policy and related material.
  • Regularly be required to solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Attend meetings with clients / planning authorities and other stakeholders as a representative of the company and to liaise directly with other professionals pursuant to effective management and conduct of projects.
  • Coordinate and manage projects including:
    • Preparing and managing the submission of planning applications, including LRD applications,
    • Compliance submissions
    • preparing planning appeals,
    • site appraisals,
    • planning policy reviews,
    • project management,
    • co-ordination of environmental assessments.

About You:

  • The candidate must possess a recognised qualification in Town Planning (IPI and/or RTPI Accredited), and be highly motivated, organised and be expected to work both individually and collaboratively.
  • Have the satisfactory experience in town planning, after attaining the qualification.
  • Experience of liaising with clients and providing advice on planning matters.
  • Technically proficient (Microsoft Office).
  • Clear and demonstrative knowledge of relevant planning legislation / requirements
  • Excellent working knowledge of planning, development and environmental issues.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and analyse and interpret results; ability to prepare reports and formulate recommendations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent report writing and oral communication skills necessary.
  • Be well organised with meticulous attention to detail while also being able to manage a varied and full workload.
  • Demonstrate the enthusiasm and initiative to be a well-rounded town planner, with a willingness to learn.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with candidates’ experience and ability. We anticipate the basic salary to be in the range of €70,000 to €85,000, this will be dependent on the experience the successful candidate brings to the table and the level of support that the board feel they will have to give.
